Dr Cohen completed his training as a Doctor in Leeds in 1994, and after higher training in Australia, Bristol and London was appointed an NHS Consultant Anaesthetist in 2004 at Barnet General Hospital, North London.
Dr Cohen is on the Anaesthetics Specialist Register of the General Medical Council (2004), and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Anaesthetists (2000). He follows a rigorous process of continuous medical education including regular clinical audit / governance, attendance at educational meetings and yearly appraisal.
In addition to comprehensive training in most areas of Anaesthesia, Dr Cohen has a number of areas of specialist interest. These include Intensive Care Medicine, Paediatric Anaesthesia and Total Intravenous Anaesthesia (a technique associated with a very low incidence of post operative sickness ).
Dr Cohen regularly provides Anaesthesia to patients having Gynaecological surgery. He has been working with Mrs Bajekal for over four years in both the NHS and private sector.
Dr Cohen spent over one year as a trainee Gynaecologist prior to commencing his postgraduate Anaesthesia training. This experience provided him with excellent insight into the unique problems facing patients having Gynaecological surgery which has been invaluable in enabling him to provide an informed, safe and empathic approach to the Anaesthetic management of Mrs Bajekal's patients.
